I am never really any good with these things, I kind of feel like I am at a job interview. So let's see, what can I tell you about me and my little blog thingy? Ok well I am an avid reader and have been doing since I first learned how. About a year ago I became a part of the review world. I am in no way a professional and I pretty much do it for the fun of it. I have no rules and no guidelines for myself, well except for I always have to be completely honest. And you can tell by my reviews that I have posted so far that I have no problem at all with that. I add my personality to every review and I know things don't always make sense but I bet you laughed(hopefully). I usually stick to romance books but I have been know to pick up others if the cover and synopsis garb my attention. I currently help out on a couple blogs and reviews teams plus I am an occasionally guest reviewer on one.
To tell you about me well, I am a 30+ year old stay at home mom. I went completely blind about two years ago. But with a couple of eyes surgeries I now have complete vision back in one eye. I have a serious weakness for tattoos and I am currently proudly showing off 12 of my own. Yeahhhh, so that's it for now.
So I finally got to stop and read this book that I have heard such amazing things about. And as I sit here all I can really think is, well it was good but it wasn't ranked up there with the best that I have ever read. So I will go ahead and start with the characters. Here we have Grey, yes I like the name but at the same time I kept flashing back to FSOG. I just couldn't help it but that didn't really bother me. She had to grow up a sheltered pastors daughter in Georgia. And if you know anything about the south, then you know some of these people are serious about church. I loved it when she would stand up and fight for herself, she would fight to get what she wanted. But then at times it seemed she was almost lost and wasn't even sure what she was fighting for. It almost seemed to me that by the end of the book she never really got to find herself. But that's just my opinion. And then we have rich boy actor Dawson, all yummy bad boy. It seemed he had no idea who he was either. he just partied harder and harder, did his job and whatever chick was with him for the night. But somehow these two damaged souls found each other and magically through all the tears and fears(hehe) they came together and lived happily ever after. Yay!
Ok so I didn't really like this story, I caught myself skimming through parts of it because I would get bored. Couldn't help it. The characters just drove me nuts. I just never really got them, I couldn't connect with them. I hate it when that happens, it can kill a book for me. They just seemed so fake and annoyingly whinny at times and come on really, their love just seemed so forced. I didn't feel their love for each other, it didn't move me at all. It was just kind of icky. Ok enough with my rambling.. On to the good stuff, I will honestly tell you that in the first few chapters, I cried. Oh I cried A LOT! Now that stuff there got me and I believed it fully. And sweet holy moly the sex in this book was just earth shattering. Yeah I stole that from the book. But goodness, I needed a fan, a glass of ice water and a cold shower all in one. I mean maybe if all the passion that was put into these scenes was used throughout the whole book, I would of loved maybe even craved this book. But sigh that was about all there was for me. Oh and I liked a few of the songs in the playlist.
