With a book and a tattoo.......

I am never really any good with these things, I kind of feel like I am at a job interview. So let's see, what can I tell you about me and my little blog thingy? Ok well I am an avid reader and have been doing since I first learned how. About a year ago I became a part of the review world. I am in no way a professional and I pretty much do it for the fun of it. I have no rules and no guidelines for myself, well except for I always have to be completely honest. And you can tell by my reviews that I have posted so far that I have no problem at all with that. I add my personality to every review and I know things don't always make sense but I bet you laughed(hopefully). I usually stick to romance books but I have been know to pick up others if the cover and synopsis garb my attention. I currently help out on a couple blogs and reviews teams plus I am an occasionally guest reviewer on one.

To tell you about me well, I am a 30+ year old stay at home mom. I went completely blind about two years ago. But with a couple of eyes surgeries I now have complete vision back in one eye. I have a serious weakness for tattoos and I am currently proudly showing off 12 of my own. Yeahhhh, so that's it for now.

Lingerie Wars by Elizabeth Henderson (August 12,2013)

Lingerie Wars - Janet Elizabeth Henderson

This book was given to me from Netgalley for an honest review.

This was a great romantic comedy, by the second to third page I was laughing. Here we have Kirsty who is a strong down on her finances lingerie shop owner. She is also a retired lingerie model due to a car accident that left half of her body scarred. And because of her jackrabbit ex-fiance who ran off with her life savings while she was in the hospital she is now struggling to stay afloat. And then one day a man named Lake(love the name) walks into her life, oh but he is not just any man, he is a retired special forces guns a blazing army guy. Oh and did I mention he is just all hot and Double-Ohhhh like? lol He comes to town to try and fix the mess his sister, Rainne, has gotten herself into with his money.

And that is where these two characters meet, he realizes that his shop is not the only lingerie shop in town, So he and Kirsty wage a war to see which shop comes out on top. And the mayhem that this town creates to help her shop out is hilarious. I just couldn't stop laughing. And Lake was just the funniest of them all, just the stuff that came out of his mouth was great. But through it all these two found love, oh happy days lol. It really was great how he proved to her that no matter what you looked like, beauty truly came from the person not the looks. It was wonderful to see her open herself up to be loved, even though she was just stubborn about it the whole time.

As far as the story goes, it was great. Like I said it had me cracking up at some of the parts. Buttttt, it did drag on some of the time, which did tend to kill the smile on my face. But other than that it was still pretty enjoyable.I honestly can't wait to read more from this series.

My song for this book - Devil's Dance Floor by Flogging Molly

Louder Than Love by Jessica Topper

Louder Than Love - Jessica Topper

This book was given to me from Netgalley for an honest review.

This book was not anything like I expected. And which was actually a nice thing. I have been reading books lately that were so Alpha-male-love-me, it was great to take a break from. Anyways, so here we have Katrina a.k.a Tree. She was still in mourning from the loss of her husband four years earlier to really live her life. Don't get me wrong, she was living it but only for her little girl, Abby. She wasn't really living it for herself. Who could blame her? And here we have Adrian, with ghost of his past constantly haunting him also, he was also living the same as Tree. He never really stopped to smell the roses, just went through day to day with a drink in his hand. But a chance of some rather cute mistaken identity and a case of attempted homicide with shellfish an adorable love story was started.

It was nice watching these two kind of finally open up their eyes and take a look around and to look and see what was right in front of them. This book really digs deep and makes you actually open up and look into your own life. It was a little eye opening at times. Like I said, way different than what I am use to reading lately. It was nice to actually meet the reformed bad guy after he grew out of the bad. And was just trying to find his place in a new life. It warmed my heart. And once Tree faced her own ghost and finally started living for herself, she saw a lot more.

This book was good, I enjoyed it. At times though it did seem to get a little carried away with detail and gave us some useless information. Some detail and info can be good but when you have to much it can drown a story. I did get a little bored a few times and put the book down, so it definitely wasn't a stay up all night read for me. So with sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, shellfish, tattoos, a little heartbreak and a British accent, I would tell you to go ahead and pick the book up and check it out for yourself.

Travis (Buffalo Rocker Series) by N. Kuhn

Travis (Buffalo Rocker Series) - N. Kuhn

This book was given to me for an honest review.

Oh no look out, there is going to be a train wreck! Yeah that is pretty much how I can best describe this book. I don't mean that in a completely bad way, so please don't think horribly of me just yet. This book was just everywhere all at once, it was just honestly one bad thing after another. I was almost afraid to read the nest page sometimes. Now to the characters, first we have Brittany. She first comes off as a spoiled rich daddies girl but later you find out that that is not all exactly true. I liked her at first but then close to the end that like went downhill. And trust me I will explain why. But this leads us to her boyfriend, Travis. He is apparently the kid from the wrong side of the tracks who is just trying to become a huge rock star like his father. I liked him for about 5 pages and then bam it was done. After that first incident, I was just over him, although he does redeem himself a little later on. But regardless I still dislike him. So on a scale of 1-10 I give Britt ,maybe a 6.5 and Travis a 2.5.

So the reason why I completely brushed this book off is because in the beginning Travis hit Brittany. I just can't do it. I don't care if it's drugs, about a monkey or if someone pays him a million dollars to do it. Unless it was accidental there is no reasoning for it. And he had no problem admitting he bagged her supposed best friend. Yuck! Plus the dumb girl goes back to him. No just plan out no. I don't care that he is all clean and may even play golf with Jesus. I just can't do it. But the him getting clean did raise him up a point for me. Did he ever apologize for hitting her? Or just for the stuff that was said?

Now to the story. By this time the train has derailed and is in not so good shape. In the beginning the writing was just so stop and go for me. It was like the sentence would start going and wham "Period." Luckily it did start to flow more the further you got into the book. This story really was just everywhere, kind of like a tornado. I wasn't quite sure which house it would rip up next. I mean love, drugs, rock and roll, nasty skanky sex, a parent passing away, a new love that turned out to be scum(what happened to him after he got the letter) loss of friends, starting a new life and there is way more stuff in it. I kind of wish some of the doom and gloom was maybe left out or this could of been split into two books instead of one. I would have to honestly say that the best parts of this book were when Trav got sober and the songs that were written in it. I really liked those. So characters I didn't really care for after it was all said and done, an all over the place tornado of a story, nasty skanky sex, some actual hot sex and neat little songs, I gave it 3.5 stars.

Eyes Wide Open By Raine Miller

Eyes Wide Open - Raine Miller

I was given this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

So, I am a little sad to say that I may be a little happy that this trilogy is at it's end. But, I would like to add that out of the 3 this was my favorite book. On to the characters. Well here we have sweet little Brynne. What can I say about her that you don't already know. I am sure that you already know her tale from the other two books, so let me give you my impression. Bry, Bry dear sweet Bry. Please pick one personality and stick with it. You are either the spunky submissive or the insecure doormat. Now don't get me wrong, I understand her reasons for being both but come on stick to one for more than a chapter please. I actually did like the spunky submissive side of her though. I probably would of been a complete submissive when it came to Ethan also. And that leads me to Ethan. He started out somewhat controlling and then all of a sudden turned into no holds bar I-may-need-to-go-into-witness-protection-to-get-away-from-him guy. Yikes, I get he may be a tad(HA!) controlling, dominate and intense but wowwwwww. I really felt sorry for her at first. But as the books went on he kind of loosened up some, which I was thankful for. By book 3 I found him quite yummy, so I kind of forgave him for his earlier bad behavior. All in all by the end, both characters calmed and leveled and grew on me. And by the way, no one and I mean no one has that much hot steamy sex lol.

Like I said earlier the story got better with each book and so did the writing. If you paid close attention, you can see the change in the style. Things were better written out and the story just more complete. As I said this was my favorite book out of the three. I will say that it was kind of anticlimactic for me though. I needed a bigger bang there lol. There just wasn't enough "boom" for me when it all came to the end. And come on I want to know if they are having a boy or a girl. Did Raine tell us somewhere and I just missed it? Hmmm? Character that grew on me, hot British accents, plot that kind of fizzled and way to many orgasms fro one trilogy led me to my 4 star rating.

* I found out not long after I did this review that there will be a 4th book*

Dark Light by S.L. Jennings

Dark Light (The Dark Light Series) - S.L. Jennings

I was given this book fro an honest review.

Once again I am 50/50 about a book. I either liked it or I didn't. I am just not really sure lol. At times it just seemed like two different people were writing it. It drove me nuts at times. But on to the characters. Here we have Gab(nickname). She seems to be your typical 20 year old girl who thinks she may have herself figured out but it turns out she was way wrong. I liked her at times and at other times I wanted to shake her and tell her to get over herself. She just seemed so selfish and "me, me, me" at times that it got a little annoying. But maybe that can just be her age and all the stuff she was going through. I liked her better when she was so sure and confident and sassy. Now Dorian was truly an enigma. I could hardly figure him out, unless it came to sex. It seemed to be only then that you got to see who he really was. But then again the mystery seemed to draw you to him. I really do wish you got to know more about him. But of course back to the sex. It was just mouth wateringly hot. Ummm table for two please! Yummy is all I can really say and think lol. And oh how I just wanted to cuddle poor Jared, I loved him right from the start. Buck up buddy, your time will come.

As far as the writing and story goes. Well like I said, at times it just seemed like two different people were writing. Sometimes the writing would seem maybe immature and at other times it was awesome. It would push you away at times and then so quickly pull you back in. I may have a case of whiplash here. The parts that grabbed me though were great and they made me keep right on reading and had me asking what is going to happen next? I just have to know. So with what seems to be two different writers, interesting characters, hot sex and so much mystery, I just can't wait to read the next book.

Executive Sweet by Sage Ardman

Executive Sweet - Sage Ardman

I was given this book for an honest review.

Ok I am going to attempt to write this review again, but if this time I fail then I am done. Now let me go ahead and say that just because I didn't find this book enjoyable doesn't mean that you shouldn't give it a chance. This is my opinion and my opinion alone, and with that said here we go.

Sadly as hard as I tried I just couldn't bring myself to finish this book. Sigh, I will however tell you the good things about it. 1) The story wasn't really all that bad, maybe it just needed to be executed better or something. 2) I found little grammar and spelling errors, so that's a positive. Sigh. Where this book completely took a dive for me was with the characters. And that to me is a very important part of a book. Let's talk about Kay......... Hold on I am trying to get this out. I think maybe she was suppose to come off as one of those beautiful and intelligent woman that didn't let her looks go to her head and all that jazz. Sadly she just seemed egotistical, snobby, flaky and I really just found her quite disgusting. She was suppose to be doing what she was doing to prove to men that women were more than sex objects, in all reality I believe she had every feminist shaking their heads and finding new bras to burn. She pretty much sent women to the pole(stripper pole). It was sad. And ahhh here we have Dan the Man as I like to call him, I just wanna kick him in the balls. He was pretty much just like all the men he and Kay set out to take down. He was just ewwwwww. Kay take a cold shower and open your eyes, do you see him or are you letting your lust blind you?

And the other down side was some of the story was just so far out there maybe it should of read like a paranormal romance at times. I mean really, who in the hell is that perfect and pretty much has every man in the universe willing to bend over and hand you everything, but maybe a Siren? NO ONE!! And wow so Dan was going to hire a detective to investigate this glass company but since Kay used her beauty and got the info for him he just gave her the $90,000 that he was going to pay the detective. Wait! What!? Is this detective a part of the President of the US secret service? Who pays that much really? Oh I just couldn't take it anymore and put the book down.So there ya go.

Claimed (Club Sin #1) by Stacey Kennedy

Claimed - Stacey Kennedy

This book was given to me by Netgalley for an honest review.

He called her "doll". Sigh I believe in that instant I even became his. Geez with a simple term of endearment and I was just a melted puddle of goo. Ok I will get back to that. So I may be a little hooked to a character because of a single , oops. We will start with Presley, I liked her. Of course at first she came off as shy and maybe a little uncontrolled. I say that because she could't control her need to please and be rewarded. I understand that need a little but I am not one to put myself down just to make sure someone is happy. I liked who she began to grow into once she realized how she was acting. I still think she may have jumped a little into the whole collaring thing but ehh that is just me. Now to Dimitri, it all started with the name. I have a serious love for the name Dimitri on a man. Always have, and the simple fact that he called her "doll" I believe it is now my main focus in life to find a hot guy with that name and that calls me doll. Lol Besides that I did like his character. He made a nice soft DOM(I know those 2 words don't go together but I have my own reasons for them) who even though he may have thought he had total control but in a way he didn't and I did like that about him. Like I said maybe the collaring may have been a little rushed for me but it seemed to work for them.

Now to the story, I actually enjoyed it. Some authors seem to think anything having to do with BDSM always has to be hard and maybe a little scary but this showed a softer side to it. It was a nice change for once. At times the story did kind of get a little slow maybe even dull for me but it didn't stay that way. I wish maybe the scenes were a little longer and maybe a little more detail or story was added to them but they worked. Writing was good, saw maybe a couple of errors but nothing dramatic. So overall I enjoyed this story and hope to read more from the author in the future. Plus I mean come on now, the man called her DOLL, yes I know that I may need a little help.

This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas (July 13,2013)

This Man - Jodi Ellen Malpas

Ok, ok seriously I don't know why I like this book. maybe it's all the sex. I mean yeah cuz there was a whole lot of it. Honestly. there was a lot. But if I was her i would of kicked his ass a million times. I mena every time she turned around he was being like a weird gorilla. It drove me nuts. I don't get him, I don't get her but lord. Haha lord. Was he trying to knock her up with the pill hiding. like we couldn't figure that part out. Not so bad writing, it took me a minute to hope on bored with the accent talk but hey I got it. I really honestly think it was all the sex that got me and the weird stalker tendencies but hey, hey it got me. Now to read the others.

Lick ( Stage Dive 1) by Kylie Scott

Lick - Kylie Scott

I was given this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Jebus H. Christ I loved this book. That almost seems to be a trend with me lately lol. Sex, drugs and rock n roll, what's not to love? Ok, maybe I don't love the drug parts so much but there wasn't much in there but they were part of the story. So anyways. The characters were awesome. I loved the things that came out of Evelyn's (Ev) mouth and what all was running around in her head. I laughed so many times. I also liked for once the girl wasn't a virgin, that is just done so much in books now that sometimes it can get a little old. I mean she would kind of be considered a born again version though I guess. And the mess she got herself into was just great, I see myself taking a trip to Vegas soon. Maybe I can find me a hot, adorable guy to wake up married to. That would just be great. And awww David was just so tasty and lovable I loved him right from the start, you knew he was going to be great the moment you realized how hurt he was in the beginning of the story. I just wanted to hug him and tell him it would all be ok. Plus I mean come on he has tattoos and long hair, yeah a lot of book boyfriends have tattoos but not many have long hair. Drool.

Their love story was full of ups, downs, sideways, long ways and any ways you can possibly think of. It was perfect and so real that I felt like maybe I could live it. I was so rooting for them that I got pissed when that stuff with the witch Martha happened (boooo you whore) that I just wanted to put the book down and punch a pillow or maybe punch a man, yeah that would of been better lol. Grrrr my heart broke for poor Ev. And then (angels singing here) David finally shows up, I just kept telling him that it was so to late and to take his cheating self on somewhere. But after all the stuff he started doing , although it got close to the stalker level a bit, I was glad he stuck around. I may have swooned a little, ok  A LOT, I swooned a lot. He was really trying to prove himself o her and it was amazing. This is quite possibly one of my favorite HEAs ever and I cheered a little there at the end. Yay Dav and Ev!

So as far as the story goes it was wonderful, I stayed up till 2 A.M. reading as much as I could before I had to put it down to sleep. Hooked me right from the get go. Fantastic writing, the story just kept pulling you even further with the next page. I do wish I would of found out a little more about Vegas but what I do know was great. I also wish there was an epilogue, or will they have another book? I am guessing the next one will be about another band member. Hopefully it will be Mal's story. Since this may be one of the most rambling reviews I have done and maybe one of the longest, I bet it's a sure bet that I loved this book lol.

Stardust (Peaches Monroe #1) by Mimi Strong

Stardust - Mimi Strong

I was given this ARC for an honest review and here goes my honesty.

Let me start off by telling you how I feel and then I will tell you about the book in a bit. WHYYYYYYY???? Why did this book have to end and really with a cliffhanger of all things!! Dear sweet Mimi are you trying to kill me?? I am such an emotional wreck right now it's not even funny, I mean my hands are shaking right now. If you can't tell, I absolutely LOVED, LOVED this book and I want more Peaches.

Oh the wonderful characters, I do believe I loved every single one of them and that doesn't happen a lot. Oh Peaches, you may now be the love of my life. You are simply just amazing. And like me you have no filter, I love seeing a woman who just pretty much says what pops up in her head. And oh Dalton?(crap sorry I forgot his name, I know that's terrible)(yay that is his name) I wanted to love him also but something in the back of my head just kept sending off little warning bells. I won't lie and say I didn't find him incredibly edible and was very curious about his meatballs and all that. I was so worried that he was pulling something on her and I may have been right but I am so hoping somehow it was just a jacked up fluke or I may have to hurt him. If not I hope she kicks him in the balls and walks away.

This story was absolutely amazing and it was just what I needed to read. I found myself busting out laughing so many times that people were looking at me funny, so don't read this in public people or someone may call the men in white coats to come get you. I laughed and I teared up and the only time I got angry was when that last page said "Fall 2013" Argh!! See you have turned me into a pirate Mimi. It was well written and just flowed and I never wanted to put it down. Sigh but it was all over to soon, is it time for the next book yet?? READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE!! Maybe then you will understand why I sound like a crazy person right now.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Beautiful Creatures - Margaret Stohl, Kami Garcia

Ok so i am finally starting this series and to be honest I am not sure at this point if I can even finish the first book. The first 100 pages were just so slow. I of course didn't know much about the series and I wasn't sure at first whose POV this story was told from, so I was a little confused. But since I did buy the whole series on sale at Amazon, I might as well start them. So far I am wishing I could hit the refund button. I can't really explain it but it just seems like to much is crammed into one book and I am around page 270. I am not going to lie, the book has started to pick up some and is slowly growing on me, But it still has a lot of down time when I have to stop and think "TO MUCH,THIS IS TO MUCH" and on it goes. So we will see

So day 2 and the book is finished, I now hear the angels singing. Overall the story wasn't really all that bad, it's just like I said earlier it felt like there was to much crammed into this one book. For me there was just to many things I had to remember and keep straight and then some stuff popped up and I was just like, "ummmm I don't remember any mention of that so far, where did that come from?" I may sound dumb but geez it's a first book in the series and you have already hit us with all this stuff, Dark and Light Casters and the various types of Casters and supernatural, teen love, sweet sixteen, crazy family, small town, cliques, death , etc. etc. etc. The list can go on forever.
I did actually like some of the characters. I often did want to smack Ethan and Lena upside their heads but I mean really, they did sound like true 16 year olds lol Besides all the paranormal stuff, the people did seem like a group of small town folks you would meet on any normal day. So that is a plus and when the story picked up it was really good. But I still just couldn't score it very high and went with 3 stars. And now I am off to read the next book because I really have to know what happens now lol. i have been sucked in, lets hope this gets better.

P.s. I don't usually do reviews but I thought I would try it out. I am also not good at writing and have had a a 4 year old talking to me nonstop for the past 15 mins. yeah fun fun
